  1. Alstom signed a framework agreement with Northrail for up to 100 Traxx Shunter locomotives worth up to €700m including up to 20 years of maintenance; deliveries start end-2029.
  2. Siemens Mobility's first major Vectron X order covers 80 firm and 20 optional locomotives for Railpool, deliveries from 2027, taking the lessor's Vectron fleet to 325 units.
  3. Škoda Group and ZOS Trnava won a €266.2m ZSSK tender for eight firm seven-car 200 km/h three-system EMUs, with deliveries no earlier than 2032–2033 pending financing.

Framework agreements worth up to €700m for Alstom and around €266m for Škoda headline a series of rolling stock contracts announced at InnoTrans 2026 in Berlin, with leasing companies and national operators committing to more than 400 vehicles across five deals.

Alstom and Northrail signed a framework agreement for up to 100 Traxx Shunter shunting and transfer locomotives — the first order for the new platform. The leasing company will take four-axle electro-diesel locomotives. Alstom did not disclose the number of units in the firm order, but its value, including 10 years of maintenance, is just under €100m. The full framework, covering 100 locomotives and up to 20 years of maintenance, is worth up to €700m. Alstom will design and build the locomotives in Belfort, France, with deliveries due to start at the end of 2029. The first batch will operate in Germany.

Siemens Mobility will supply up to 100 new-generation Vectron X locomotives to Railpool. The leasing company's firm order covers 30 Vectron X electric locomotives and 50 Vectron X Dual Mode electro-diesel locomotives, with 20 more under option. Neither party disclosed the contract value. This is the first major order for the Vectron X platform, which Siemens unveiled in June with expanded digital functions. Deliveries begin in 2027 and will take Railpool's Vectron fleet to 325 units — a measurable expansion of one of Europe's largest leased locomotive fleets.

Pesa will supply trams to Germany for the first time. The Polish manufacturer won a contract with Braunschweig public transport operator BSVG for 12 low-floor Twist 3.0 vehicles, with an option for 10 more. The trams will be built at Pesa's plant in Bydgoszcz, Poland, and at the Leipzig plant of HeiterBlick, the German tram builder Pesa recently acquired. The first tram arrives in Braunschweig at the end of 2029, with entry into service planned for March 2030. Each tram costs €5.4m excluding VAT.

Magyar Vagon will supply 200 new-generation IC+NEO passenger coaches to leasing company Leo Mobility Management (LMM). The Hungarian manufacturer won the tender, and the parties expect to sign the contract soon. The 200 km/h coaches, in sleeper and seated versions, will be leased to European operators. The IC+NEO has yet to be built, so the order remains a commitment to an unbuilt design rather than a fleet with delivery dates attached.

Škoda Group and ZOS Trnava won a tender from Slovakia's national operator ZSSK for 15 seven-car trains. The firm order for eight trains, including 10 years of maintenance, is worth €266.2m excluding VAT. Deliveries start no earlier than 2032–2033, and the contract only takes effect once financing is secured. "The EMU550 will be the first three-system version of our new-generation EMUs, designed for international long-distance services at up to 200 km/h," said Tomáš Ignačák, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Škoda Group. The trains will run on 3 kV DC and on 15 kV and 25 kV AC — a configuration suited to cross-border workings between Slovakia and its neighbours.

Progress Rail signed a contract with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) for 33 SD70ACS diesel locomotives designed for hot climate and desert conditions. The order takes the US manufacturer's fleet at SAR to more than 150 locomotives, consolidating Progress Rail's position on the Saudi network.

Siemens Mobility received an order for 56 regional trains from Germany's BeNEX: 26 four-car double-deck Desiro High Capacity units with 424 seats and 30 three-car single-deck Mireo units with 210 seats. The trains enter service on the Frankfurt – Würzburg – Nuremberg/Bamberg routes at the end of 2020s' final year — December 2030 — and Siemens will maintain them using its Railigent X predictive diagnostics platform.

Several of these contracts carry conditions or long lead times: the Škoda deal awaits financing, the Magyar Vagon contract awaits signature, and first deliveries under the Alstom and Pesa orders arrive only at the end of 2029. The volume of business written at a single trade fair — spanning shunting locomotives, dual-mode mainline traction, trams, coaches and regional EMUs — points to continued fleet renewal demand across European operators and lessors through the end of the decade.
