Port Polska's KDP rolling stock company has been formally established, and tenders for Poland's high-speed trains and the AEX/RE train programmes are set to be launched later this year.

The newly created company will serve as the vehicle for procuring the rolling stock required for Poland's intercity and regional network modernisation. Two procurement streams are planned: one covering trains for high-speed services, and one covering the AEX/RE train categories used on agglomeration and regional routes.

According to the announcement, tender procedures for both fleets will begin before the end of this year. Suppliers invited to bid will compete for orders whose size and delivery schedules will be defined in the tender documentation, which has not yet been published.

The establishment of the KDP rolling stock company consolidates procurement under a single entity rather than leaving acquisitions distributed across individual operators. How the resulting orders align with Poland's existing fleet plans and with the timetable for high-speed line construction remains to be verified once tender specifications are released.

No contract values, trainset quantities or delivery dates have been disclosed at this stage. The tender launches later this year will be the first concrete test of the new company's procurement role.
