Oriental Rail Infrastructure has secured an order worth 16.5 million rupees from Modern Coach Factory, the company announced in a regulatory filing picked up by TradingView.
Modern Coach Factory, one of Indian Railways' coach manufacturing units at Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh, placed the order with Oriental Rail Infrastructure, a supplier of components and fittings for rolling stock. The 16.5 million rupee contract covers the supply of parts destined for the factory's coach production lines. The company did not disclose the exact product range or the delivery schedule tied to the award in the announcement.
The order adds to Oriental Rail Infrastructure's pipeline of contracts with Indian Railways production units. The company supplies interior fittings, components and allied equipment to the national operator's rolling stock factories, and orders of this size typically represent subassembly or component work feeding serial coach production rather than complete vehicle supply.
For Modern Coach Factory, component orders such as this one sustain the output targets set under Indian Railways' rolling stock programmes. The Raebareli plant manufactures LHB-design coaches, the standard passenger vehicle platform used across Indian Railways' mainline fleet, including Vande Bharat express trainsets and conventional air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned stock.
The 16.5 million rupee value places the contract at the smaller end of the component supply spectrum. For comparison, Indian Railways' overall rolling stock procurement runs to tens of billions of rupees annually, with individual coach orders frequently valued in the billions. A component contract of this scale nonetheless carries margin significance for a listed supplier, and Oriental Rail Infrastructure disclosed it through the standard exchange filing route used for material order wins.
The announcement follows a pattern of incremental component orders flowing from Indian Railways' production units to domestic suppliers as the national operator expands coach output. Indian Railways has been ramping up production at its coach factories to meet fleet renewal demand and to support the introduction of new trainsets on premium routes.
Oriental Rail Infrastructure has not yet stated when it expects to begin deliveries against the order, and the award remains subject to the standard execution terms agreed with the factory. Further order flow from Modern Coach Factory and the operator's other production units will depend on the pace of Indian Railways' coach production programme in the coming fiscal year.
